Final Nano Prep

reading_is_sexy_by_time_lords_by_irishartemis-d3b2qonTomorrow is the first day to start writing your novel. Notice I did not call it a masterpiece.

A few final thoughts before going into this, brought to light by my friends on the various groups throughout the internet lands:

  • This isn’t a job.
  • The worst thing that happens is you don’t finish – no one dies, this includes you.
  • The best thing that happens is you finish – and you still don’t die, but you’ve only started “really” writing…
  • Take this as serious as your brain will let you. If you feel yourself begin stressing out, take a day off and play a video game or some Hearthstone to distance yourself.
  • Real life happens to us all, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Remember, even Stephen King found himself on the wrong side of a truck bumper while out for a jog, pondering ideas for a new story.
  • The point of the entire month is to help everyone write consistently and consecutively, with as many fluffy words and adverbs as possible. Throw the passive voice “to be” and terrible sounding “he said grinningly” all over the place.
  • Smile. You are supposed to have fun and tell a story stuck in the subconscious of your brain. Only you can do that. Well, and prevent forest fires, but that’s a different month.
  • Ask a doctor before starting a workout regimen involving Buick Regal GS and the new 6-speed manual transmission.
  • If you have an erection lasting longer than 4 hours, call a doctor. Especially if your doctor is impressionable.

For Christ’s sake HAVE FUN WITH THIS. Laugh, drink, be merry. Look at the great past writers..  they’re all mad and insane! You know why? They had voices in their head all the time! The only way they could get the voices out was to write. Or self-medicate, but that’s a different post altogether.

Today, and tomorrow, just write.

Sit, face-roll that keyboard and pump out as many words as you feel is needed. No more, no less. If you want to come back in a few hours and do more, great! If not, do more tomorrow.

Nanowrimo is for you.

…And one last thing, if anyone has any computer problems, PC or Mac, hit me up..I’ll help out where I can.
